About Me

I was born and raised in Stockbridge Village, back when it was called Cantril Farm. My dad worked on the production line at Fords, and my mum was a social worker. Growing up here, I learned the value of hard work, community, and solidarity. I never imagined I’d one day be Knowsley’s MP - but this place made me who I am, and it’s what drives me to fight for better jobs, stronger public services, and a fair deal for our community.
I’m not a career politician. I started out running club nights in Liverpool, working in record shops and diners. From there, I moved on to fight for workers’ rights with Unite the Union and to shape national policy at the TUC. I’ve spent my career making sure working-class voices are heard – from the shop floor to the corridors of power. Now, I’m using that experience to stand up for Knowsley in Westminster.
I’ve been a campaigner and organiser all my life. I worked to secure Britain’s first Living Wage, fought to protect jobs at Bombardier, and took on the far-right when they tried to divide our communities. I’m proud to have proposed Labour’s New Deal for Working People, a plan that will improve wages, job security, and workers’ rights across the UK.
Before being elected as your MP, I served as Political Director at Unite, and later at the TUC, making sure working people’s voices were heard at the highest levels of government. I’ve worked alongside two Labour leaders and the Mayor of London, always fighting for fair pay, decent jobs, and social justice. I know how to get things done – and I won’t stop fighting until Knowsley gets the investment and opportunities it deserves.
